There is no piece of art Dave cannot make with his hands. Dave’s specialty is designing and creating customised pieces of art for commission pieces.
After finishing year 12 at Camberwell Grammar Dave furthered his studies by completing a Bachelor of Design (2 & 3D) at Monash Uni in 2002 and continued to explore his creative side by remaining active in the art industry, designing and developing customised work, but now also exhibits frequently.
1998 was Dave’s debut at the Top Cats exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), featuring Paper which was a mixed media collage made with shredded paper from the principal’s office. Camberwell Grammar was most supportive of Dave’s creative ambitions. After the Top Cats exhibition had finished, the NGV borrowed Paper for another year to be used in a student involvement study in Bendigo TAFE.
2015 Dave won Students’ Choice for his graffiti style acrylic painting on wood contribution in the Hartwell Primary School annual exhibition. Dave donated the painting to the school, and it is still hanging in their art room as a motivational and inspirational piece.
Dave has continued to provide customised pieces and the commission of a specific piece in 2019 has ignited a change in his unique, personal style which is what he continues to explore for now. Using this style, Dave has exhibited over the last 12 months at the Hobsons Bay & San Remo annual art exhibitions and has sold many pieces. Dave’s preferred medium for his current style of work is alcohol inks, but he’s worked with all types of art including sculpture, paint, wood, power tools, drawing, modular furniture design and graphic design and can work across all mediums in the creative industry.
